Barium Springs Home for Children recognizes that the first five years of a child's learning experience are crucial to future academic success. As children play, they gain creativity, language skills, and intellectual concepts. Play gives children the opportunity to interact with others and enhance physical development. Our teaching staff complete development assessments and prepare lesson plans for infants through five-year olds. Trained in child development, the staff guides the children's play by asking open-ended questions and planning activities that encourage and enrich the child's learning process.

Full Day Childcare

The Wagner Family and Child Development Center located on the main campus serves 60 children and is the only childcare facility in Iredell County that is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. The Center also holds a Five Star License with the North Carolina Division of Child Development. The Center provides full day childcare in a child-centered environment for children six weeks to five years old. The center's philosophy is that children learn best through play and hands-on experiences. The Center provides assistance to families by setting fees on a sliding scale, based on family income. The Center believes that all children, regardless of family income, deserve quality childcare. If you are interested in your child attending the Center, fill out an application.

More at Four Programs

More at Four is a North Carolina, state-funded, pre-kindergarten program for at-risk four year olds. The program is available to children who turn four on or before October 16th and will be entering kindergarten the following year.

Currently, Barium Springs offers three More at Four classrooms at LC Wagner Family and Child Development Center on the Barium Springs campus. Barium Springs also offers four More at Four classrooms in Statesville at Springs of Faith, a Five Star Licensed facility. “ Her scared, guarded demeanor has been replaced with a giggly carefree grin. Her teachers help her to feel safe in a school setting. ”
