Meet Janey. Her single mom is thrilled that she attends the free preschool - More-At-Four Program

I like going to school here. They teach me lots of things, like how to write my name and sing my ABC's. I have lots of friends in my class and I love my teachers. They are very nice and show us how to paint and draw. They told me that I can go to Kindergarten soon and ride the school bus.
Janey: age 4

Before Janey was enrolled in the More-At-Four Program at the Wagner Family & Child Development Center, I was afraid she would not be adequately prepared for Kindergarten.  Being a single mother, it was always difficult to find time to work with my daughter on the reading and writing skills she would need to be successful in her first year of school; there just wasn’t enough time in the day.  Janey’s learning disabilities also made it difficult to teach her the basic skills like recognizing numbers and letters.

When Janey started attending the More-At-Four Program at the Wagner Family & Child Development Center, it was like a huge weight was lifter off my shoulders.  The program is provided free or paid for through Smart Start.  She always enjoys going to the Center, her teachers are so loving, and so involved in everything she does.  Since Janey has been attending the More-At-Four Program, her verbal, mathematical and social skills have improved dramatically.

When Janey brings home her artwork and hands it to me with a huge smile on her face, I know that she enjoys her time at the Center.
