Intensive Family Preservation & Reunification Services
About the Program
This service aims to prevent the necessity of placing children away from their families by offering four to six weeks of intensive counseling and support in the homes of families with children at imminent risk of being placed in foster care or in juvenile or psychiatric institutions. Services include:
- Family assessment as to strengths, resources, needs and problems
- Intensive family and individual counseling
- Client advocacy with agencies and services in the community
- Training in parenting skills with modeling behavior and practice sessions as needed
- Concrete services as appropriate for referral and consultation
Criteria for Referral
Must be referred by the Department of Social Services.
