Toby was severely abused and neglected--going days without eating. He was also exposed to drugs and gun violence at a very young age. When he first moved in with his foster mother, he was a very shy 12 year old boy afraid of everything... the dark, bright lights, noises, sleeping by windows, etc. Now, he's a compassionate young man looking for his "forever family" that will adopt him.
Barium Springs Home for Children is a great place to work because of the wonderful work we do to help children and families in NC. Because we have programs that operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, we combine holidays, vacation, sick time, and personal time together as Paid Hours Off (PHOs). PHOs (or leave time) are earned based on years of service as follows:
Employees are allowed to accrue up to 7 times their standard work week (usually 280 hours). They can also cash in accrued PHOs twice a year up to a limit of 1.5 times their standard work week (usually 60 hours).
Barium Springs Home for Children pays 100% of premium for coverage on all employees working 30 hours or more per week. Services are provided by Blue Cross Blue Shield. Basic vision care is included in our medical insurance coverage.
Barium Springs provides a $20,000 policy through Jefferson-Pilot on each employee. Additional coverage is offered for employees and dependents through Colonial and can be payroll deducted.
Barium Springs provides short term and long term disability coverage which will pay 60% of base salary until retirement age for all full time employees, beginning on the 31st day of disability.
Employees have the option to purchase the following additional insurance coverage for themselves or their dependents through a Cafeteria Plan (using pre-tax dollars): medical insurance for dependents, additional life insurance, dental insurance, accident/disability insurance, cancer insurance, and critical illness. Under the Cafeteria Plan, employees also have the option to set aside pre-tax dollars in a Medical Care Expense Reimbursement Account and a Dependent Care Expense Reimbursement Account.
Barium Springs has established a Tax Deferred Annuity Plan in order to provide funds for employee retirement. This plan is also known as a 403(b) Plan. The agency contributes to the employee's account based on their years of service. Employees may also contribute an additional amount to their retirement account.
We do not provide healthcare benefits for retirees.
All employees are paid by direct deposit every other Wednesday for the two-week pay period ending Tuesday of the previous week.
